Agriculture is the process of producing food, feed, fiber, and many other desired products by the cultivation of certain plants and the raising of domesticated animals (livestock). Nepal has traditionally been dependent on agriculture as a major contributor to its GDP. Even today 66% of Nepalese are involved in agriculture but the production is not even enough to feed half of the population. Nepal relies on age-old techniques that have traditionally provided enough to survive but with the right use of technology and innovation a rapid and drastic change can be brought on. Nepal has not embraced technical improvements to rapidly ramp up its production. With the right amount of advancement in technology, Nepal’s rich agrobiodiversity can change the import-based economy to an export-based one.
Vector hopes to bring out the best ideas and solutions that when applied in the community will impact production, storage, and distribution of agro products and decrease Nepal’s dependence on imports. The ideas presented in the technical festival under this theme can ease the process in any stage from giving the right training and knowledge to the farmers and encouraging youth to be involved in agriculture to aiding the production process to create a market for the produced products. As long as the idea makes the lives of farmers a tad easier and contributes to more production, it’s eligible. The competition hopes to be a breeding ground for ideas and hopes to bring out the best of the best Nepal has to offer and create a long-lasting impact on Agricultural practices in Nepal.
