Nepal is a beautiful country with huge potential of being a tourist hub welcoming
thousands of tourists every year. Nepal contains thousands of destinations with scenic,
natural and religious importance ready to be explored. Nepal Tourism witnessed a
growth of 24 percent with 1,173,072 foreign tourists in 2018 compared to 2017. The
government and tourism department of Nepal authoritatively reported that Nepal will
take the year 2020 as “Visit Nepal 2020”, a year committed to the tourism industry of
Nepal with vision of making a reasonable brand picture of Nepal as travel and
vacationer destination, backing up the tourism foundations of Nepal, enhance the
growth of the tourism industry, and enhance local tourism as supportable industry. The
legislature has wanted to accommodate more than one million visitors amid the year of
“Visit Nepal 2020”.
But Nepal has not fully utilized its resources and faces many hardships in the sector.
Though the influx of tourists has certainly increased the amount of time they stay
within the country has decreased. It is increasingly evident that the tourists who
actually come into the country visit a select few places; a lot of Nepal’s hidden gems
remain hidden.
Nepal’s tourism sector has not been able to update itself to the current times, and
innovation and technology in the sector despite its potential has been scarce. It has been
clearer than ever that innovate solutions must be developed to update our tourism
sector to today’s age. Technology must play a leading role in connecting Tourists to
Nepal’s potential. If the goal of the government concerning VISIT NEPAL 2020 is to be
met; a rapid sweep of technological advances must be brought to the tourism sector.
Participants can develop projects which impact the tourism sector in a positive way; be
it by increasing the influx of tourists, increasing their time of stay or promoting the
hidden gems of the country.
Main Theme
- Simple, practical and applicable idea is more preferred than a complex, theoretical
concept.
- The idea must be developed keeping Nepal’s current state of affairs in mind.
- The idea with an economical and technical feasibility is preferred.
- Ideas with a positive impact on the living standards of lower-income Nepalese
working in the tourism industry are preferred.
- Ideas that help to reach the government’s goal of visit Nepal 2020 will be an added
bonus.
Projects demonstration
- Each project will be given a stall of (2m X 3m) to demonstrate projects.
- At least one presenter must be available in a stall at any time.
- The presenter must describe their ideas to interested visitors.
- The arrival time of a jury team is informed only before 30 min.
- If the project malfunction at the time of presentation the team can still present their
idea with a deduction of some points.
Point System
The jury team will decide the exact marking scheme but the marking scheme is based on
the following theme.
- The idea with higher economical and technical feasibility is beneficial.
- The idea with the potential to complete the import-based market is beneficial.
- The advancement of technology and complexity of ideas may not add point but
simplicity and applicability may add a much point. However, it may depend on the jury
team and presentation of the participant.
- The idea to address the current problem is very beneficial.Jury team
The VECTOR organizing committee will collaborate with the executive committee of
the Free Students Union and Paschimanchal Campus to finalize the jury team. The
decision made by the jury team will be fair and unguided. In case of the result of the
competition the decision made by the jury team will be a final decision.
General Rules
- Each team will have 5 min for presentation in front of the jury team.
- The team must be present every day of the event.
- Any activities that bring disrespect to the jury team will be taken as an activity
against the event so will be punished accordingly.
- The time of arrival of the jury team is informed in the stall. If none of the team
members are present during jury visit the team will get 0 points and can be termed as
eliminated.
- Participate should not dismantle their projects before completion of the whole
competition.
- In case of any kind of dispute the decision made by the organizing committee will be
a final and binding decisio n.
Disqualification
The team with the following activity will be disqualified
- Violation of the general rule of the competition.
- Use of explosives, fires or dangerous chemical which may endanger life or property.
- Involvement or attempt of destruction of others project.
- Any form of plagiarism or any other form of cheating
- Behaviors that may offend or bring hurt to any caste, religion, sex or nationality.
Team Specification
A team may consist of a maximum of 5 members. There is no restriction
for participation. Students from any part of the nation can form their teams with
anyone. Students from any field can participate.
Eligibility
Any individual who is keen to share his/her ideas is open to participate. Anyone
who wants to take part must fill up a Registration Form and pay an amount of
Rs 500.
Rewards and Certification
A cash prize of Rs 50,000 along with certificates will be provided to the winning team.
Every participating team will be given a Certificate of Participation.
Registration Information
- Teams must register for “Tourism” with names and two passport size photos of all the
members within the end of Mangsir.
- A registration fee of Rs 500
has to be paid during registration (includes lunch set).
